Radnor Street Cemetery

Radnor Street Cemetery is rarely used nowadays for new burials, the Borough Council designated the site as a Local Nature Reserve in 2003 and started to manage the site for biodiversity.

The Friends of Radnor Street Cemetery heritage group were formed to tell the important story of the cemetery through the people who are buried there.

Burials include civic dignitaries, members of the Great Western Railway hierarchy, the boilermakers and plate layers, the philanthropic benefactors and trailblazing women, the teachers, and tradespeople and the 104 servicemen who lost their lives as a result of their military service in two world wars.

The small team of dedicated volunteers research and write about those buried in the cemetery, conduct guided cemetery walks, help maintain the Commonwealth War Graves, help visitors locate family graves, hold exhibitions in the Chapel and have an annual Remembrance Day Service.
