Richard Jefferies Museum
We are proud to have the Museum Trust as a South Swindon in Bloom partner organisation. This year marks the 175thanniversary of the birth of the nature writer.
The Museum Trust was founded to develop and manage the museum which honours Richard Jefferies, a well-known Victorian writer, and a pioneer on environmental issues and one of the first people to use the term “wildlife”.
The museum contains a 17th
century thatched cottage, a 19th century three-storey farmhouse, outbuildings, gardens, a small copse, an orchard, and vegetable gardens. The Richard Jefferies Trust has introduced a programme of arts, music, and nature events, including activities for young children and has a small museum café.
